Mud Bath

Description

“Mud Bath” reminds me of the mudflats we played on as kids at the Puget Sound. The tide coming in and out leaving pockets of rhythmic patterns to follow or jump over. Mother brown bear (Ursus arctos) and her 2 cubs have had a muddy encounter. Perhaps their tummies are full of a healthy catch of fish. This painting presented many challenges, one being the zigzag sand patterns, the use of heavy pallet knife to create a thick muddy fur texture and reflection. It took 3x’s longer to paint than a similar size painting. A labor of love!
